For a newbie I understand that the word traffic based on blogging could be confusing and that's why I decided to add visitors to above title.
What is traffic?
Traffic when talking on blogging, literally means visitors or readers.
What's the essence of putting up a blog and the only visitor that reads your content is you. Believe it or not, the only way you can actually be successful in the blogging business is to have lots of traffic or visitors visiting your blog for updates and below am going to talk on major two classes of getting traffic:
If you are the type that really wants to start making money online within a short period (say one or two months) then you could consider paid traffic.
What is Paid Traffic?
Paid traffic really have to do with advertising on other top blogs, websites and search engines to gain more visitors to your blog and increase readership audience.
This actually involves you paying or buying vouchers on top sites and search engines.
Example of search engines offering paid ads or traffic are Google, Bing etc.
Google Adwords: You can pay google to advertise your website through their program called Google adwords. It requires you to buy advertising vouchers and you get a coupon and then fill in the form given and when approved, your ads begins to run on google search results page when searchers searches for keywords relating to your niche or blog.
Bing: Bing is currently considered as the second best search engine after google and before yahoo search. Bing offers advertising programs similar to that of google but requires payment through credit cards or PayPal.
Paid Traffic Using Social Sites.
One of the most popular social site on the internet is facebook and Facebook also allows paid advert.
In-other to advertise on facebook, you need to have a facebook account and visit their create ads page to create your advertising campaign, facebook currently accept credit cards and PayPal as a means of funding source.
Free Traffic
If you are the type that just wants to take things gentle and isn't into the quick cash thing then working on your blog for free organic traffic is for you.
Free traffic has to do with optimizing your blog and content for free visitors from search engines. You can also build free traffic from top social websites like Facebook, twitter etc if you have got a large base of fans.
Free traffic is more idle as it lasts longer than paid traffic and pays on the long run but attaining a reputable traffic through this means requires much hard work, time, research and quite a long time but free!
In my subsequent posts, I will let you know how you can get traffic from facebook and twitter to your blog. So do stay tuned.
